I hope those crazy thunderstorms washed away that terrible smell outside. It was worse today! There's a manhole cover across the street with some new spray paint symbols around it -- maybe they're going to do some work on the sewer or something. I couldn't even go out there and sit on the steps!
Also, I don't think I mentioned that on my last day off, I stopped in at the mini-police station down on South Street and asked them what I should do about the bike that's been chained to the street sign in front of my house for two years. They told me I could definitely get rid of it; it has technically been abandoned. So I tried to be subtle and asked if I should just get a hacksaw and cut it off... trying to make it a little more clear that if it were as easy as just getting rid of it, some one would have done it long ago. So eventually one of the officers remembered he had something called a pipe cutter and that there was another abandoned bike chained in front of Whole Foods and that he would go out later and cut both of them off!
Of course, 5 days later, the bike is still in front of my house and I've now exhausted that resource. But at least we know we're not breaking any laws by getting rid of it, however and whenever that eventually happens.
I'll have to hope this posts because lately we've been losing our internet whenever it starts thundering, not even raining. It goes in and out -- so annoying. Sometimes I'm actually trying to do productive study-related things online! Sometimes.
